The CS Whistler is the oldest siren in the CTS lineup, coming out at around 1924. The siren itself is very robust. It's quite simple with a 3 legged Darley type design. The siren itself is quite cheap coming in at around 100 bucks back then. It was a widespread siren spanning across 15 states mainly used in fire stations. The CS Whistler was one of the more popular choices, managing to sell 400 units. The siren was relatively easy to construct, As the casting for the legs were the same across all of them. the stator is short due to the limited motor power back then, The chopper is a Carter style chopper. With curved vanes the siren was able to reach up to 110 decibels at 100 feet. Quite impressive back then. As the model 2 was the go to siren.
PROS
The siren is quite small, cheap, and versatile. Making installation and removal very easy.
The motor is quite large for it's time, being around 5HP back then.
The mount is very secure, making it survive high wind loads without dying.
Big coverage, around 5500 feet.
Easy to remove shroud. Making maintenance really easy.
CONS
CS Whistler castings did not bend they snapped.
Due to lack of a better casting system back then, Many units had to be re casted.
Rust
IF reverse wired the siren's output would be violently harmed.
MOUNTING
The siren is relatively easy to mount and dismount. All there is to do is unscrew 3 screws then lift it off then it's off.
CS CODE SIREN

CS Dual-Whistler
The CS Dual-Whistler was produced later in the 1930s. As the 2 rotors were too heavy for the 5 HP motor to spin properly. The siren itself is literally 2 whistlers mounted ontop of eachother. One being 10 port and 1 being 12 port. This siren had a little less range but traded for a more noticeable tone.
Measuring around 120 decibels at 100 feet, this siren was the loudest CS sirens out there.

Lower coverage due to being dual tone.
